Petra and Pyramids- 4 Day Tour

‘In my case it was love at first sight. This desert, all deserts, any desert.’
The Journey Home – 1977 Edward Abbey.

This tour can start in Jordan, Egypt or from Eilat- Israel. Highlights of Jordan and Egypt, we offer a selection of short Petra, Wadi Rum, Cairo and Pyramid tours and
customize all tours to suit individual requirements

This four days Jordan and Egypt tour begins in Eilat where we enter Jordan. We recommend spending the night before the tour in Aqaba to get the Jordan visa fee waived (60$ per person). See more information below.
In Egypt you will find below the option of adding into the program the climb to Mt. Sinai and visiting the Monastery of St. Catherine on the way from Eilat to Cairo.

Day 1 – crossing assistance, join the group and we head straight for Petra. At the entrance to the site we leave our vehicles and commence the walk (horses optional) to the imposing Siq Canyon. A 1/2 hr walk through its towering canyon walls leads us into Petra. We tour the lost city on foot, exploring the main archeological sites. We stop for a refreshing buffet lunch at a restaurant within the site. Free time will be giving to you in Petra at the afternoon. You may choose the optional climbing to the monastery on top of Jabel (Mt.) A Deir. We check into our hotel in the village near Petra or make our way to our 3* hotel in Petra or to a Bedouin camp where we enjoy our evening meal and settle for the night in a Bedouin guest tent. Here we have the opportunity to observe the awe-inspiring desert night-skies and the mysterious and enchanting views of the desert.

Day 2 – Following breakfast we board 4X4 jeeps, driven by professional Bedouin drivers and journey to the famous sandstone area of Wadi Rum. We go off-road into its unique landscape and get well off the beaten track to explore rarely traveled ancient merchant routes. We enjoy a picnic lunch in the great outdoors whilst taking in some of the Rum’s most outstanding sights and scenery. The tour includes the Seven Pillars, Khaz Ali canyon and Jabel Um Asharin. We continue off-road through the Rum and by afternoon we will cross the borders through Israel to start our long journey to Cairo.

The drive to Cairo takes now about 8 hours. Since you depart in the late afternoon, right after your Jordan tour, we strongly recommend that we will book for you a night in hotel in Cairo. This way you can get a few hours sleep upon arrival. Without having the hotel room you might have to wait few till the sites are open. Travelers on a budget can spend a few hours in Eilat after the Jordan tour and then cross into Egypt later around 23:00, that will bring right in time for breakfast in Cairo.

Day 3 – Travelers who drive: in the Morning we reach Cairo where first we take a short break to enjoy a refreshing breakfast. Travelers who spent few hours resting in the hotel will have breakfast there. Rested and ready to go we commence a tour that explores the greatest highlights of Cairo and delves into its incredible history and rich Egyptian heritage. We begin this tour at the very symbols of Egypt and its past The Great Pyramids of Giza (one of the wonders of the ancient world)and the Sphinx. We explore this impressive site taking in the many interesting facts and sights along the way. You may add the pyramids of Memphis and Sakkara for a supplement (recommended). After lunch, we tour the highlights of Old Cairo. In the afternoon/ evening we take a faluka sailing boat on the Nile. Having finished our tour of this area we head to our hotel (4*) where we settle in.
Optional Evening Activities:
– Dinner at a quality local restaurant – $30pp. incl the car
– Nile Dinner Cruise –80$pp. incl the car
– Sound and Light Show at Giza (pyramids) – $72pp. incl the car
Our recommendations for additional sites:
– Entering INSIDE the pyramid – 36$pp (tour does include entering the Pyramid site)
– Museum’s Mummy chamber 37$
– Tour Memphis and Saqqara 45$pp (Additional to the visit of the Pyramids of Giza)

Day 4 – Following breakfast we spend the morning exploring the world renowned Cairo Museum. Here much of Egypt’s priceless treasures are found including the riches of Tutankhamun. After lunch, we take, the sights and sounds of the colorful Khan El Khalili bazaar. If time allows, we will visit the famous Mohamed Ali mosque.
In the early afternoon we will start our way back to the border crossing, it will take about 8 hours and we will get in the middle of the night.
We recommend spending the night in a resort on the Red Sea near Taba instead of spending the night in Eilat. Prices are usually lower than in Eilat and you will not have to cross the border in the middle of the night after a very long ride from Cairo.
If you continue to Eilat the night you return from Cairo, then we will assist you on the Egyptian side of the border but you will cross independently on the Israeli side. We will give you cash to pay for a taxi to your hotel in Eilat. Taxies are usually available at the exit of the crossing. If not, please ask one of the security guards at the border to call a taxi for you. They will assist you with this.
You will need a night in a hotel either in Eilat or in Taba- Sinai near the border at the end of your tour.
